The Burden of the Select Few

Conformists fill the world—people who go along peacefully with the life that society hands to them.

However, there are those who hunger for more and search for a life that is bigger than themselves. They yearn for something of their own and refuse to conform to society.

Those who lay on the floor and ponder on the questions that give way to a new age. They venture into the unknown and reveal the world's secrets.

People envy their achievements, not knowing the burden it is to carry such responsibility to society.

Wishing for that which their carriers wish to discard.

They do not know the toil experienced and the price they paid for their achievements.

Much less the burden that comes with such a mind, the pressure that sets in knowing that the failure to realize your mind's potential will mean the pain and exile will all have been for nothing.

How that mind, in all its pain, envies to be freed from its desires.

How it wishes to be able to conform.

How it yearns to give up its search for that which does not exist yet and be satisfied with what society has to offer.

The disappointment that sets in when their abilities are not yet large enough to bring into existence what they envision.

Oh, the frustration when all that is missing is an opportunity is akin to an imprisoned man.

This select group of men and women live with their tongues swirling around their cyanide tooth. They wish to escape their burden.

But something inside them that is nothing short of divine keeps them pushing forward, sacrificing their peace and shouldering the pain in hopes of a better tomorrow for those around them.

The words of this reflection will echo in the hearts of the members of this group, and you know who you are because it strikes your heart to be seen.

I leave you with this.

The world needs you because you are the shaper of its future.

Your life is uncertain because it is yours, and you are creating what it will look like and what it will look like for others as well.

Bear your duty meekly and responsibly.

Keep your station virtuous and of good favor.

Do not allow the world to corrupt you, for it will attempt it greatly.

Keep your head up, your mind working, and your heart beating in faith for the change you can create.
