Pride the Executioner of Mankind

The world will try to corrupt your impact.

The nature of your actions will affect the way society turns.

Do not think yourself too small to doom an entire generation.

Thankfully, this means you also have the potential to elevate society and advance the principles the great men before us have imparted to us.

Pride is the ultimate corrupter.

It is the birthplace of all evil.

And the chief executioner of mankind, for it destroys all that is good.

Regardless of your stance on religion, to deny the importance and the archetypal accuracy of the stories is outright immature and naive.

Lucifer was the most beautiful of all angels. All gifts were bestowed upon him, and nothing did he lack. It was when pride came into his heart and gave way to greed and envy that he turned into the personification of evil itself.

If pride turned an angel who sat in the presence of perfection, how much more will it turn your human heart?

Pride steals

Pride demeans others

pride robs you of your potential

pride stomps you

pride murders, including you.

Humility must then permeate every aspect of your life.

All attributes strived for must never be thought attained lest we cease our efforts.

Stunted is the growth of the prideful, for they cannot see outside of what they are and when perfection has been improved.

Doomed are those who strive for they will never know the fruits of their labor.

Faith is the only satisfaction they get.

They sacrifice themselves to build something bigger than themselves while they become smaller in their own eyes.

You poor soul.

If only God would go back and open your watered eyes, and those tears would be joyous instead.

But alas, your ignorance is a requirement.

You must not know of your success that you may still hunt.

Those aware of their intellect are too prideful to learn.

Those aware of their abilities are too comfortable to exert themselves.

Those aware of their beauty are too narcissistic to attract anything outside mirrors.

Growth must come from humility and the desire for a greater station and what place is there to go higher when one has ascended the mountain.

If you find yourself close to the top, close your eyes, keep walking, and never open them again so that you may disregard the peak and start walking upwards into the clouds.

This Reflection continues, but I think the importance of not being corrupted by pride is so vital that I will post the continuation next week so you can dwell on your own pride for a moment and make an effort to practice humility this week.

Be grateful.

Make a habit of listing at least five things you are grateful for each morning. This shifts your perspective to recognize blessings around you instead of pain and all else simply taken for granted.

So I'll see you next week, but here is a sneak peek.

"Do not allow your desire for praise and recognition precede your mission. Do not speak of your pain in search of pity for you will settle for that and never work another day for actual admiration. Speak not to elevate yourself or risk your potential for more…"
